The Anambra State government has arrested a well-known Nnewi-based spiritualist, popularly called De Young Chief Priest, as part of a crackdown on traditionalists and native doctors allegedly providing charms to criminals.
Security operatives apprehended the spiritualist on Thursday at his office in Nnewi. He is currently undergoing interrogation while authorities investigate claims that he supplied spiritual support to individuals involved in criminal activities in the region.
Full details of the allegations have not yet been released by the government, but the arrest is linked to a broader security operation targeting native doctors suspected of preparing charms used to embolden kidnappers, armed robbers, and other criminal elements.
The operation underscores Anambra State’s intensified efforts to curb criminal activities by disrupting networks allegedly aided through occult practices.
