ILE-IFE, Nigeria — The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, Ojaja II on Thursday congratulated newly appointed Acting Inspector-General of Police, Tunji Disu, urging him to lead a strategic and intelligence-driven approach to tackling insecurity across Nigeria.
The royal father, through his palace media office, said Disu’s appointment is timely, coming at a period of heightened security challenges nationwide. Ogunwusi highlighted the acting IGP’s operational experience and leadership capabilities as critical to delivering focused and result-oriented policing.
He called for improved officer welfare, community engagement, and strengthened collaboration with other security agencies to restore public confidence in the Nigeria Police Force. The Ooni also commended President Bola Tinubu for decisive leadership and appreciated outgoing IGP Kayode Egbetokun for his years of service.
The Ooni wished Acting IGP Disu wisdom, courage, and divine guidance as he assumes office during this critical moment in Nigeria’s security landscape.
