The Lagos State Magistrate Court in Ikorodu has approved three laboratories abroad for the DNA testing of Liam, the son of the late singer Mohbad.
The development was confirmed by Oladayo Ogungbe, counsel to Mohbad’s father, following a court session.
Key Details
- The court authorized one laboratory in the United States and two in the United Kingdom.
- All parties will be present during sample collection.
- Mohbad’s widow, Wunmi, and father, Joseph Aloba, each selected a laboratory.
- The court chose an independent laboratory to ensure impartiality.
- The DNA test follows demands from Mohbad’s father to establish Liam’s parentage in light of circumstances surrounding the singer’s death in September 2023.
“The court has eventually picked three DNA laboratory centres, two in the United Kingdom and one in the United States. One from us, one from them, and the court picked an independent one,” Ogungbe said.
The case has been adjourned to April 7, 2026, when samples will be collected under the supervision of welfare officers.
