Abuja, NigeriaJigawa State has recorded the highest number of new voters in Nigeria’s ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise, according to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

As of February 13, 2026, a total of 1,228,648 eligible Nigerians completed their registration under Phase II, Week Six of the exercise. Of these, Jigawa accounted for 98,698 new registrants, representing 8.03 per cent of the national total—the highest recorded by any state so far.

INEC shared the figures on its official X (Twitter) handle on Thursday, showing that Lagos followed with 86,307 registrants, Sokoto with 77,004, and Kano with 71,990.

The latest numbers indicate a sharp rise in citizen participation compared with the 884,737 registrations recorded at the end of Week Five, signalling growing engagement ahead of upcoming elections.

A breakdown of the data shows that 673,124 applicants used the online pre-registration portal, while 555,524 completed the process physically at designated registration centres across the country.

Statistics further reveal that youths aged 18–34 constitute the majority, with 848,066 registrations (69.02 per cent). Female registrants total 696,891 (57 per cent), males 531,757 (43 per cent), and persons with disabilities (PWDs) account for 19,414 registrations.

The surge highlights Nigeria’s growing electoral awareness and the active participation of young citizens, women, and persons with disabilities in shaping the country’s democratic future.
