The Lagos State Organising Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ayodele Adewale, has described the appointment of Tunji Disu as Acting Inspector-General of Police as well deserved, praising the move as a boost for national security and stability.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu approved the resignation of former IGP Kayode Egbetokun, paving the way for Disu, an Assistant Inspector-General of Police, to assume leadership of the force in an acting capacity.

Adewale, who also serves as Publicity Secretary of St. Gregory’s College Old Boys Association (SGCOBA), said Disu’s elevation comes at a critical time for Nigeria’s security architecture.

“I proudly celebrate the appointment of Nigeria’s new Acting Inspector General of Police, AIG Tunji Disu — an honour that truly reflects merit, discipline, professional excellence, and a lifelong commitment to selfless national service,” Adewale said.

He described Disu as a distinguished alumnus of St. Gregory’s College, Ikoyi, and an officer who has consistently demonstrated integrity, courage, accountability, and innovation in public service.

Track Record in Strategic Policing Roles

Adewale highlighted Disu’s tenure as Commander of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), noting that intelligence-driven operations under his leadership restored public confidence in law enforcement. He also referenced Disu’s service as Head of the Intelligence Response Team, Commissioner of Police in Rivers State and the Federal Capital Territory, as well as his contributions to international peacekeeping missions.

According to him, Disu’s emphasis on intelligence-led crime prevention, institutional discipline, and zero tolerance for corruption sets a benchmark within the Nigeria Police Force.

He further commended Disu’s “humane and citizen-focused” policing style, arguing that it has strengthened trust between law enforcement and communities.

‘A Leadership Earned Through Dedication’

Reflecting on a professional relationship dating back to 1999, Adewale said Disu’s steady rise through the ranks was built on loyalty, discipline, resilience, and principled leadership.

“Watching your steady and well-earned progression through the ranks has always affirmed my belief that dedication, competence, humility, perseverance, and honour remain the enduring pillars of purposeful leadership,” he said.

Adewale concluded by expressing confidence that the new Acting IGP would deepen justice, strengthen public trust, and reinforce national stability as he assumes one of Nigeria’s most critical security positions.
