A joint security team escorting villagers recently released from captivity came under attack on Monday evening in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State, raising fresh concerns about safety along key rural routes.

The incident occurred around 7:30 p.m. on the Kunchin Kalgo–Danjibga road as the convoy travelled to Danjibga to reunite residents of the Keta area with their families. Among those in the convoy was the Chairman of Tsafe Local Government Area.

Details of the attack were shared on Wednesday by security analyst Zagazola Makama via his X account. According to the report, the assailants—suspected terrorists—laid an ambush along the route, suggesting they had prior knowledge of the convoy’s movement.
