Nigeria’s Vice President, Kashim Shettima, has arrived in Davos, Switzerland, ahead of the 56th Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF), where he will lead the country’s delegation to the global summit scheduled from January 19 to 23, 2026.
Shettima flew into Davos from Conakry, Guinea, where he represented President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the inauguration of Guinea’s President, Mamadi Doumbouya on Saturday. His arrival in Switzerland was confirmed in a statement by his spokesman, Stanley Nkwocha.
On landing, the vice president was welcomed by Nigeria’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, and the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr Jumoke Oduwole, along with officials from the Nigerian Mission in Switzerland.
Nigeria’s presence at WEF 2026 is being highlighted by the launch of Nigeria House Davos, the country’s first official sovereign pavilion at the prestigious global forum. Located on the Davos Promenade, the pavilion is a product of a public-private partnership and will serve as a hub for ministerial engagements, investment discussions and cultural exhibitions throughout the week.
The pavilion is expected to host key meetings and presentations aimed at showcasing Nigeria’s economic opportunities to global investors and policymakers.
At the WEF, Vice President Shettima is scheduled to present Nigeria’s economic outlook for 2026 to an international audience of world leaders and business executives. He is also expected to participate in high-level discussions on emerging technologies, including the ethical use of artificial intelligence, quantum computing and biotechnology.
The vice president will also hold a series of bilateral meetings with global leaders, heads of multinational corporations, and representatives of international development finance institutions to strengthen strategic partnerships and attract investment into Nigeria.
