The police spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, said the command had taken the suspect into custody and launched an investigation to identify and arrest others who may have been involved.

“The behaviour of the masquerade, as seen in the viral video currently in circulation, is totally unacceptable, unlawful, and will not be tolerated under any guise,” the statement said.

Police described the attack as unprovoked, noting that innocent citizens were targeted during what should have been a peaceful burial ceremony.
