The Accord Party in Osun State has confirmed that Governor Ademola Adeleke has been officially listed by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as its duly nominated candidate for the August 8, 2026 governorship election.

The party said the confirmation followed the successful completion and submission of all required nomination documents to INEC, ending speculation surrounding its candidate selection process ahead of the highly anticipated poll.

In a statement issued on Thursday in Osogbo, the Accord Party chairman, Pastor Victor Akande, described the development as a major boost to the party’s preparations and a clear signal that all legal and procedural requirements had been met.

“We are pleased to formally inform the good people of Osun State that His Excellency, Governor Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke, has been successfully uploaded into the records of INEC as the Accord Party’s candidate,” Akande said.

INEC Listing Ends Nomination Speculation

According to the party, INEC’s confirmation effectively settles questions that had trailed its nomination process, offering clarity as political activities gradually intensify across the state.

Akande stressed that the electoral body’s action was a validation of the party’s strict adherence to guidelines governing candidate nominations.

“The confirmation by INEC is an affirmation that the nomination process has been duly concluded in line with the requirements of the law,” he added.

The Accord chairman also acknowledged the growing support received from party members and residents across Osun State since preparations for the election began, noting that public confidence remained a key driving force.

“We appreciate the overwhelming support, solidarity and confidence reposed in the party and in Governor Ademola Adeleke by the people of Osun State,” Akande said.

As the countdown to August 8, 2026 continues, he urged supporters and eligible voters to stay engaged with the electoral process, calling on residents to ensure they are registered with INEC and have collected their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).
