The Police Service Commission (PSC) and the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) have announced a two-week extension for the ongoing recruitment of 50,000 constables, following a surge in applications.

According to a statement on Monday by PSC Spokesman Torty Njoku, the application portal, which opened on 15 December 2025, will now close on 8 February 2026. Over 400,000 applications have already been received for the 50,000 available positions.

Njoku explained that the extension aims to address disparities in state participation. While states like Adamawa, Benue, and Kaduna have recorded high numbers of applicants, Lagos, Ogun, Bayelsa, Ebonyi, and Anambra have notably fewer submissions.

“The extension is intended to ensure equitable representation nationwide,” the statement said. Njoku also urged eligible Nigerians, particularly from states with lower participation, to apply through the official portal: www.npfapplication.psc.gov.ng.

The PSC further called on state governments, local councils, community leaders, religious organizations, and sociocultural groups to mobilize eligible citizens and encourage participation before the new deadline.

The commission and the police reaffirmed their commitment to a fair, transparent, and merit-based recruitment process, emphasizing that the move will help achieve a more balanced representation of candidates across all states.
