Rapper and singer Azeez Fashola, popularly known as Naira Marley, has voiced alarm over the growing influence of cultism in the Nigerian music industry, describing it as a worrying trend among artists.

Speaking on his X (formerly Twitter) handle, Marley highlighted that only a handful of Nigerian musicians, including himself, have resisted joining cult groups. He criticised colleagues who have joined for perceived power or protection, pointing out the irony that even those who initiated others into cults still rely on police escorts for personal security.
