Kankara, Katsina State — Fresh fears over insecurity swept through parts of Katsina State after armed bandits killed two people and abducted six others during coordinated night attacks on Dan Nakwabo and Madobai villages in Kankara Local Government Area.
The attacks occurred at about 9:00 p.m. on Friday, according to a security update shared on X by conflict analyst Bakatsine.
In Dan Nakwabo, the assailants reportedly shot dead a man and a woman identified as children of a local businessman, Alhaji Dan Azimi. Two other residents were also taken away during the assault.
A second attack followed in Madobai village, where no fatalities were recorded, but four villagers were abducted by the gunmen in what appeared to be the same operation.
The incident adds to growing concerns about persistent banditry in north-west Nigeria, where rural communities continue to face attacks, kidnappings and night raids despite ongoing security operations.
As of the time of filing this report, the Katsina State Police Command and the state government had not issued an official statement on the incident.
