Gunmen reportedly launched an attack on the Old Oyo National Park in the Oke Ogun area of Oyo State, leaving several people injured or dead, according to initial reports. The exact number of casualties has not yet been confirmed.

The Oyo State Police Command confirmed the attack on Wednesday. Public Relations Officer Olayinka Ayanlade said police and other security agencies are on their way to the scene.

“Yes, there was an attack by yet-to-be-identified men against the men of the national park,” Ayanlade said.
“The Commissioner of Police and other service chiefs are currently on their way. Tactical teams, Mobile Police Force officers, and the Explosive Ordnance Disposal unit have been deployed to prevent further breakdown of law and order.”

The incident has sparked concern over security in the region, which is home to several protected wildlife and cultural heritage sites. Authorities are working to secure the park and ensure the safety of staff and visitors.
