Normal operations returned across the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) and its affiliated Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) on Wednesday after workers suspended their strike in compliance with a court order.

The decision followed a ruling by the National Industrial Court of Nigeria on Tuesday, presided over by Justice E. D. Subilim, which directed the Joint Union Action Committee-led industrial action be suspended immediately to facilitate dialogue between the workers and the administration.

Reacting to the judgment, FCT Minister Nyesom Wike urged workers to comply without delay, emphasizing that while the right to protest is recognized in a democracy, court orders must be respected.

In line with the court ruling, Acting Head of the Civil Service of the FCT, Mrs. Nancy Sabanti, issued a circular instructing all Secretariats, Departments, and Agencies to reopen and strictly maintain attendance registers to ensure compliance. Permanent secretaries and heads of parastatals were directed to enforce the immediate resumption of duties while reassuring staff of the administration’s commitment to their welfare.

Observations on Wednesday at the FCTA Secretariat and several affiliated MDAs indicated significant compliance, with staff actively carrying out their official duties. The development signals a gradual return to full operations across the territory after a period of disruption.

The court-mandated suspension now provides an opportunity for both parties to engage in meaningful dialogue to address the workers’ concerns while maintaining uninterrupted public service delivery.
