A 27-year-old woman, Esther Akwaji, has tragically died under mysterious circumstances while eating at her boyfriend’s residence in Dei-Dei, Bwari Area Council, in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
According to reports, Esther, a resident of Nasarawa State, had travelled to the FCT to visit family. On January 21, she left her family home claiming she was heading to a bank in Dei-Dei but never returned. Hours later, her family received a call from a man, identifying himself as Esther’s boyfriend, using her mobile phone.
The man allegedly told the family that he had purchased food for them to eat, and while they were eating, Esther suddenly began vomiting. He claimed to have rushed her to Kubwa General Hospital, where doctors confirmed she was dead on arrival. Sources report that the man fled the hospital shortly after, and his identity remains unknown.
The FCT Police Command, through Public Relations Officer SP Josephine Adeh, confirmed that investigations are ongoing. “The corpse has been deposited for autopsy to determine the actual cause of death, while efforts are ongoing to arrest the fleeing suspect,” Adeh stated.
Authorities are urging anyone with information about the incident or the whereabouts of the boyfriend to come forward to assist in the investigation.
