Prominent activist and African Democratic Congress (ADC) chieftain, Aisha Yesufu, has vowed to campaign against any presidential ticket in 2027 that places Peter Obi as a deputy rather than flagbearer.

In a viral video circulating online, the outspoken campaigner warned that the former Labour Party presidential candidate should not accept the role of vice-president to any aspirant.

Yesufu argued that Obi, a former governor of Anambra State, ranks above others seeking the office and deserves to lead — not serve as a number two.

“I’m giving you people my word. If Peter Obi emerges as a running mate to anyone, I will work against that ticket,” she said.
“In my little capacity, I will work against them even if I don’t support any other candidates. Why are we always asking the best to be the second?”

Obi recently joined the ADC, a platform reportedly backed by opposition figures pushing for a strong coalition ahead of the next general election.

He is believed to be one of the leading contenders for the party’s presidential ticket. However, speculation continues to grow that former vice president Atiku Abubakar could emerge as the ADC candidate — with Obi being considered as a possible running mate.

Yesufu’s stance underscores growing tensions among opposition camps, as conversations deepen over alliances, power-sharing and who ultimately leads the push against the ruling party ahead of 2027.
