Nigeria’s Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman has etched his name into African football history after a sensational performance at the Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

The Atalanta winger delivered a masterclass in Nigeria’s emphatic 4–0 victory over Mozambique in the Round of 16, scoring once and providing three assists to power the Super Eagles into the quarter-finals.

That display lifted Lookman’s tournament tally to three goals and four assists in just three matches, making him the most productive player at AFCON 2025 in terms of total goal contributions.

Statistics platform Opta confirmed that Lookman also became the first player since the 2010 Africa Cup of Nations to record multiple assists in more than one match at the tournament.
