Niger Tornadoes head coach Majin Mohammed says his side’s 2-0 loss to Kwara United was the result of a “bad day in office” compounded by two first-half injuries that disrupted their game plan in Ilorin.

The Ikon Allah Boys were outplayed on Sunday, with Kwara United securing victory through goals that left Tornadoes chasing the match from early on. Mohammed confirmed that key players Terdoo Shimagande and Sabiu Ibrahim were forced off after sustaining injuries.

He explained that the sudden withdrawals destabilised the tactical setup his team had prepared for the crucial fixture. “If there is anything called a bad day in football, I think Tornadoes had one,” he told reporters after the match.

The coach noted that both injury setbacks and the early goals conceded in the first half left his players struggling to regain control of the encounter. According to him, everything that could go wrong on the day did.

Mohammed, however, acknowledged that Kwara United showed stronger intent and better organisation, suggesting that their preparation made the difference on the pitch. “Kwara United showed class. They were clearly well prepared for this game,” he said.

He added that the outcome was a reminder that league standings do not always determine how competitive a match will be, especially when one side approaches the fixture with greater urgency.

Despite the defeat, Mohammed expects his players to bounce back, stressing that the NPFL season remains long and that injuries are part of the challenges clubs must manage.
