The Lagos State Police Command has arrested popular TikToker Habeeb Hamzat, widely known as Peller, following a viral video that showed him driving dangerously during a live broadcast that ended in a crash. The arrest comes amid widespread public outrage over the incident and renewed concerns about road safety and influencer conduct.

Police said the incident occurred on Sunday, 14 December 2025, and prompted swift action after the footage circulated widely on social media. According to the command, the manner of driving captured in the video posed a serious threat to the lives of the influencer and other road users.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, confirmed that Peller was arrested and detained for further investigation. The police described the conduct as reckless and said it could have resulted in fatal consequences.

The command further described the behaviour as highly irresponsible, warning that such actions could easily lead to loss of life. Authorities stated that, in their assessment, the conduct amounted to a grave endangerment of public safety.

Police also confirmed that the case file has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for a detailed probe. Investigators are expected to conclude their findings before the suspect is charged in a court of competent jurisdiction.

Using the incident as a cautionary example, the Commissioner of Police in Lagos State, CP Olohundare Jimoh, warned social media influencers and content creators against using digital platforms to promote dangerous or unlawful activities. He stressed that the police would enforce the law without bias and urged all road users to comply strictly with traffic regulations to protect lives.
