Tension has gripped residents of Owerri following the tragic death of two individuals allegedly struck by Imo Entraco personnel during an operation to seize a vehicle on Mulumba Akachi Road, near First Bank, on Monday afternoon, November 10, 2025.
Eyewitnesses told reporters that the agency’s officials were pursuing a vehicle when they lost control, ramming into bystanders and killing two people on the spot. The incident immediately sparked outrage, with angry residents decrying what they described as a pattern of recklessness and abuse of power by Entraco officers.
“This is not the first time these people have acted with such impunity,” one resident said. “They behave like they are above the law. Now, two innocent lives are gone because of their carelessness.”
The scene quickly descended into chaos as locals gathered to protest the deaths, calling for the state government to launch an immediate investigation and bring the perpetrators to justice.
The tragic episode has reignited public debate over the conduct of Imo Entraco, a state agency responsible for environmental and traffic control, which has faced previous accusations of extortion, harassment, and unprofessional behavior.
