Warm tributes poured in on Tuesday as Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, celebrated former Vice President Atiku Abubakar on his 78th birthday, describing him as an “elder brother,” “boss,” and “elder statesman.”

Obi, who shared the message on his X handle, commended the former Vice President for his decades of service to Nigeria and for remaining active in public life despite advancing age. He said Atiku’s resilience and patriotism continue to stand out in the nation’s political landscape.

“Special birthday wishes to an elder statesman, my very dear elder brother, boss, and elder statesman, Your Excellency Atiku Abubakar,” Obi wrote, adding that he wished the former Vice President “success, prosperity, and an unending stream of accolades.”

He praised Atiku’s “remarkable fortitude” and urged him to reflect on his “fruitful service to humanity,” praying for more years enriched with wisdom, strength, and continued contributions to peace and nation-building.

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State also joined the tributes, highlighting Atiku’s enduring contributions to national development and the pride he brings to his home state.

In his message, Governor Fintiri described Atiku as a “distinguished elder statesman” whose leadership and public service remain sources of pride for Adamawa and the nation.

He prayed for Allah’s continued blessings upon the former Vice President, wishing him good health, wisdom, and many more years of impactful service to humanity.
