The internal turmoil rocking the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) took a dramatic turn on Saturday as the National Working Committee (NWC) suspended four top national officers, including National Secretary Senator Samuel Anyanwu.

The suspension, which also affects the party’s Legal Adviser Kamaldeen Ajibade (SAN), Deputy Legal Adviser Okechukwu Osuoha, and National Organizing Secretary Umaru Bature, followed a court order halting the PDP’s planned national convention.

National Publicity Secretary Debo Ologunagba announced the decision after an emergency meeting of the NWC at the party’s Legacy House headquarters in Abuja.

According to Ologunagba, the committee acted “in line with the party’s constitution” and decided to suspend the affected officials for one month pending the outcome of an internal disciplinary process.

“The NWC, after extensive deliberation, resolved that Senator Samuel Anyanwu, Kamaldeen Ajibade (SAN), Okechukwu Osuoha, and Umaru Bature be suspended for one month and referred to the PDP Disciplinary Committee,” Ologunagba stated.

The decision comes amid widening cracks within the PDP leadership following recent legal and political battles over control of the party’s structures ahead of the next convention.

Party insiders suggest the suspensions could further escalate internal tensions, even as efforts continue to reconcile warring factions and restore stability within Nigeria’s main opposition party.
