The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has withdrawn a corps member, Oyaje Daniel, from his Place of Primary Assignment at Judeen International School, Mando, following a viral online comment about teenage female students that sparked nationwide condemnation.
The NYSC confirmed the withdrawal on Monday after growing public pressure, with many Nigerians questioning how a serving corps member could make such an inappropriate remark about minors. The statement said his action was “inconsistent with the ethics, discipline and responsibilities expected of corps members posted to schools.”

Officials at Judeen International School were said to have alerted NYSC authorities after the comment spread widely online, prompting concerns among parents and school administrators about the safety and welfare of their students.
The corps member was immediately invited for questioning by the NYSC local office, where he reportedly acknowledged making the comment but insisted it was taken out of context. However, the explanation was deemed inadequate given the sensitivity of the matter.
NYSC authorities emphasised that individuals deployed to schools must uphold the highest moral and professional standards, especially when working with children. The organisation noted that such behaviour undermines public trust and violates the core values of the service scheme.
The withdrawal means Daniel will no longer serve at the school, though the NYSC is expected to make a further decision on whether he will be reassigned or face additional disciplinary measures under the Corps’ code of conduct.
The incident has reignited conversations about digital conduct, professionalism and the safety of students in Nigerian schools, with many calling for stricter screening and oversight of corps members posted to educational institutions.
