The Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, has called on corps members to uphold the scheme’s core values throughout their service year and beyond.

Addressing the 2025 Batch ‘C’ Corps Members undergoing the Orientation Course in Rivers State, Nafiu emphasized patriotism, integrity, transparency, efficiency, and commitment as guiding principles for young Nigerians serving their nation.

He encouraged corps members to foster team spirit, viewing themselves as a single, indivisible family committed to the country’s development. “Allow integrity and commitment to be your compass throughout your service year,” he urged.

The NYSC DG commended the members for responding to the clarion call to serve the fatherland and encouraged them to make meaningful contributions that promote national growth and cohesion.

Earlier, the NYSC Rivers State Coordinator, Mr Moses Oleghe, presented the camp situation report, noting that the 2,586 corps members have exhibited high levels of discipline, patriotism, and commitment during the Orientation Course.

Nafiu highlighted the importance of the NYSC’s mission in shaping responsible and ethical citizens while underscoring the scheme’s role in fostering national unity. He urged members to internalize these values and practice them both during and after their service year.

The NYSC DG concluded by reiterating that the scheme remains a vital platform for nurturing civic responsibility, leadership, and social cohesion among Nigerian youth, essential qualities for sustainable national development.
