Nigerian content creator and actor Odira Nwobu has died unexpectedly in South Africa, prompting shock across the entertainment community. His passing was confirmed on Monday by filmmaker Stan Ekwe, who revealed that he had spoken directly with Nwobu’s manager about the tragic development.

Ekwe expressed disbelief over the news, recalling that the actor had recently survived a serious car accident. He said the earlier crash, which many thought was staged, “wasn’t a prank”, adding that the cause of Nwobu’s death was reported to be a heart attack.

Details remain unclear, but it is understood that the 30-year-old actor reportedly died hours after clubbing in South Africa over the weekend. Local sources said he became unresponsive shortly after returning from the outing.

The Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) also confirmed the incident. Its president, Emeka Rollas, stated that Nwobu was in South Africa alongside eight other influencers for a work engagement before he suddenly passed away on Monday, 24 November.

Rollas noted that an autopsy is being awaited to determine the exact cause of death, urging the public to avoid speculation until official findings are released.

A few months earlier, Nwobu made headlines after being involved in a ghastly car accident captured in a viral video showing bystanders rescuing victims from a wrecked vehicle. He was reported to be recovering from the incident.

As of the time of this report, Nwobu’s family is yet to issue a formal statement, leaving fans and colleagues in mourning as tributes continue to pour in online.
