Delta North Senator, Ned Nwoko, has denied allegations that he married actress Regina Daniels when she was 17 years old, insisting that she told him she was 21 at the time they first met. The senator disclosed that Daniels provided supporting documentation, including her Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) voter card, to verify her age.

The union between Nwoko and Daniels has been under intense public scrutiny following claims by the actress that she was subjected to domestic violence. The crisis escalated further after the senator accused Daniels of using hard drugs and suggested she seek rehabilitation.

Daniels, in turn, alleged that Nwoko introduced her to hard substances, a claim that has fueled further media attention. Amid these conflicting statements, the senator took to X (formerly Twitter) to clarify his position regarding Daniels’ age.

“False claims are being circulated suggesting that I married Regina when she was 17 years old. These claims are entirely untrue and misleading,” Nwoko wrote. “During my first meeting with Regina, I asked her age, and she told me she was 21 years old. She presented her INEC voter’s card as proof, which shows her date of birth as October 10th, 1998.”

Nwoko added that he has kept the voter card in his possession since that day. He also referenced a BBC interview granted by Daniels’ mother after their marriage, which, according to him, corroborates her age at the time.

The ongoing public feud has drawn widespread attention, with social media and news outlets covering each development extensively. Both parties continue to exchange allegations, highlighting the complex and high-profile nature of their marital dispute.

Observers note that the controversy is emblematic of the broader challenges facing celebrity marriages in Nigeria, where private conflicts often become national talking points, amplified by social media and mainstream coverage.
