A cloud of mystery has descended on Abeokuta as the Ogun State Police Command declares a senior Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) officer, Superintendent Route Commander Funmilayo Oluwamayokun, and her teenage daughter, Sewa Lasisi, missing after they both disappeared from their home without a word.
According to police sources, the 38-year-old officer, who heads several operational routes under the FRSC Abeokuta Unit, was last seen leaving her residence at Obasanjo Hilltop Estate, Oke-Mosan, alongside her daughter on Sunday, November 2, 2025, but neither returned nor made contact since then. Their mobile phones have remained switched off, leaving family and colleagues in deep distress.
Confirming the disappearance in a statement on Friday, the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Omolola Odutola, said the case was officially reported on Tuesday, November 5, by another FRSC officer and relatives of the missing officer. Odutola disclosed that the command had immediately swung into action, launching a discreet but thorough investigation to uncover what may have happened.
Oluwamayokun, described by colleagues as a disciplined and dedicated officer, had no known disputes or personal issues before her sudden disappearance. Her role in coordinating traffic operations across Ogun’s major highways, including the Lagos–Abeokuta Expressway and Sagamu–Interchange corridor, made her one of the command’s most visible female officers.
The police statement urged anyone with credible information to reach out to the nearest police station or contact the Ogun State Police Command through its official emergency lines. Odutola assured that all information would be treated with strict confidentiality, adding that the Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alamutu, has directed the Criminal Investigation Department to take over the case.
Residents of Abeokuta and colleagues at the FRSC headquarters have been gripped by fear, as rumours swirl regarding possible abduction. Several officers reportedly joined the search on Friday, combing nearby routes and communities in hopes of finding clues. Police have not ruled out any theory — including kidnapping or foul play — as investigations continue.
Family members of the missing officer are pleading with the public for help, expressing shock at the incident. “This is unlike her,” one relative told reporters. “She’s responsible and very close to her daughter. We’re praying she returns safely.” The Ogun Police Command has intensified the search, promising to leave no stone unturned until both mother and daughter are found.
