Nollywood actress and filmmaker Regina Daniels has confessed that her mother, Rita Daniels, warned her against marrying Senator Ned Nwoko, but she ignored the advice because she was deeply in love.

Speaking in an emotional video shared on her Instagram page on Wednesday, Regina pleaded with Nigerians to stop attacking her mother amid her ongoing marital crisis, saying her mum had done nothing but protect her for years.

“The main essence of this video is to please, stop insulting my mom,” Regina said tearfully. “She’s the best thing that ever happened to me. She has been strong for seven years, holding it down despite everything. I’m the one with the coconut head. I’m so ashamed to say I fell in love, but I actually did.”

The actress rejected claims that she married Ned Nwoko out of greed, insisting her family was financially stable before the marriage. She questioned the notion that her mother would sell her for money, describing Rita Daniels as a hardworking woman who raised all her children through her own efforts.

“Stop saying I got married out of greed. We were not broke. What money can a man give to a mother to get her child, who practically provided everything in the house?” she said.

Regina also revealed that the intense pressure surrounding her marriage and the backlash from the public once drove her to contemplate suicide. She described the experience as emotionally draining but said she has chosen to focus her energy on raising and protecting her children.

The actress’s emotional revelation comes amid reports of a deepening rift between her and Senator Nwoko, with family members, including her mother, stepping in to support her through the storm.
