Former Imo State Governor Dr. Ikedi Ohakim has praised Governor Hope Uzodimma for his developmental strides, saying the best of the governor’s performance is still ahead.
Speaking at the All Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholders’ meeting held at the Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu International Conference Centre, Owerri, over the weekend, Ohakim said Uzodimma’s achievements so far represent only “a glimpse” of what is to come in the remaining part of his tenure.
He stirred laughter across the capacity-filled hall when he illustrated his point with a striking metaphor:
“The man is excited by what he is seeing already, even though he is yet to see what is hidden behind the bikini,” Ohakim said, drawing cheers from party faithful.
The former governor called on stakeholders to sustain their support for Uzodimma, particularly in his ongoing efforts to tackle insecurity across the state.
“But for the governor’s efforts, criminal elements would have captured each and every one of us,” he added.
The event drew several high-profile APC members, including Prof. Placid Njoku (former deputy governor), Senators Osita Izunaso and Ezenwa Onyewuchi, Minister of State for Finance Doris Uzoka-Anite, Chris Okewulonu, Hon. Chuma Nnaji, Prince Lemy Akakem, and Prince Marcellinus Nlemigbo.
Speaker after speaker commended Governor Uzodimma for his achievements in infrastructure, healthcare, and human capital development, describing him as a leader focused on long-term growth and stability.
APC State Chairman MacDonald Ebere, in his welcome remarks, urged party members—especially those in public office—to increase their financial and moral support for the party’s ongoing repositioning efforts.
Responding, Governor Hope Uzodimma thanked stakeholders for their loyalty and reaffirmed his commitment to delivering people-centered governance.
He also extended an olive branch to political rivals, urging them to “turn a new leaf” and join the ruling APC, which he described as “the most credible platform” for any serious political ambition.
“The APC is now the people’s party. Those who truly wish to serve should join us so that together we can build the Imo of our dreams,” Uzodimma said.
The meeting reaffirmed the party’s unity in Imo and echoed Ohakim’s message that Uzodimma’s greatest work is still unfolding — a performance, as he humorously implied, “worth waiting to see.”
