Wikki Tourists head coach Abdullahi Maikaba has voiced frustration following his side’s 2–1 defeat to El-Kanemi Warriors in their Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) matchday nine clash.
Early goals from Emmanuel Jonas and Samaila Bello handed El-Kanemi a commanding 2–0 lead before Abdullahi Usman pulled one back for Wikki Tourists late in the game. Despite a spirited performance, the Bauchi side failed to rescue a point.
“We played very well and deserved more from this game,” Maikaba told reporters after the match. “I commend my players for their fighting spirit and determination. It’s unfortunate we couldn’t get at least a point.”
The result means Wikki Tourists remain winless in six consecutive matches, deepening their struggles in the league. The team, nicknamed the Bauchi Elephants, currently sit 16th on the NPFL table with nine points, raising concerns about their early-season form.
Maikaba, however, maintained optimism, stressing that his players’ resilience gives hope for improvement in upcoming fixtures.
