Kylian Mbappe has written his name deeper into football history after surpassing Cristiano Ronaldo’s Champions League milestone with a hat-trick for Real Madrid against Kairat.
The France captain opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 25th minute after Franco Mastantuono was fouled. He struck again early in the second half before completing his treble in the 73rd minute, sealing a dominant performance for Los Blancos.
The three goals took Mbappe’s tally to 60 in the Champions League, making him only the sixth player in history to reach the mark. Crucially, he achieved the milestone in record pace — just 89 appearances — faster than Cristiano Ronaldo, who needed 98 games to hit the same figure.
Only Lionel Messi and Robert Lewandowski have been quicker to 60 goals, doing so in 80 and 85 matches, respectively. Mbappe now sits alongside an elite group that also includes Karim Benzema, Raul and Ronaldo himself.
For Real Madrid, the performance reinforces their dominance in Europe, while for Mbappe it underscores his evolution from PSG prodigy to the face of Madrid’s new era.
The 26-year-old striker, who also captains France, is tipped by many to break further records as he continues his pursuit of Champions League glory and Ballon d’Or honours.
