May Edochie, the estranged wife of Nollywood actor Yul Edochie, has revealed how she first met her former husband long before fame and marriage entered their lives.
Speaking on a lifestyle podcast, the mother of three recalled that their first encounter happened at a General Certificate Examination (GCE) centre during her early university days — a meeting she described as unexpected and far from glamorous.
May explained that she had just relocated from Lagos to pursue a degree at Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT) when she met Yul, who at the time was a student of the University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT).
“Way back in school when I went to the East for my university, I’m a bookworm. It’s always been about books for me. We didn’t meet at a party or any glamorous setting — we met at a GCE centre,” she shared.
Reflecting on that period, May described herself as a studious young woman focused entirely on her academics, unaware that a simple examination encounter would later evolve into one of Nollywood’s most talked-about relationships.
