Former Governor of Imo State, Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha, has joined millions of Nigerians in mourning the passing of renowned evangelist, Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai, describing him as a “national icon whose life embodied faith, humility, and unwavering service to God and humanity.”
In a heartfelt condolence message personally signed by him, Ihedioha said Rev. Ukpai’s ministry transcended denominations, inspiring generations through his prophetic voice, evangelistic zeal, and commitment to national unity and moral renewal.
“Rev. Ukpai’s enduring legacy of hope, unity, and spiritual renewal will continue to inspire the body of Christ and our nation for years to come. He ran his race with grace and finished strong,” Ihedioha stated.
The former governor praised the late preacher’s lifelong dedication to spreading the gospel, mentoring young ministers, and contributing to peace and moral revival in Nigeria.
He extended his condolences to Rev. Ukpai’s family, protégés, and the Christian community at large, praying for “divine strength and consolation as they mourn the departure of a leading light.”
“Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai was a beacon of faith, a true servant of God, and a voice of wisdom in turbulent times. May his gentle soul find eternal rest in the bosom of the Lord,” Ihedioha added.
Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai, founder of the Uma Ukpai Evangelistic Association (UUEA), passed away on October 6, 2025, at the age of 80. His family officially announced his death on October 13, describing his life as “a testimony of God’s power, love, and grace.”
