Nigeria’s Super Falcons forward Esther Okoronkwo has been named AFC Toronto’s Player of the Month for September following a string of outstanding performances that helped her side maintain their impressive league form.

The 27-year-old striker registered four goals and two assists in four appearances, playing a pivotal role in AFC Toronto’s unbeaten run during the month.

Okoronkwo began her scoring streak with the decisive winner in a narrow 1–0 victory over Halifax, before producing a dazzling display in the 7–0 demolition of Vancouver, where she contributed two goals and one assist.

She continued her fine form in the return leg against Halifax, scoring the equaliser in a 1–1 draw, and capped off the month by assisting the lone goal in a hard-fought 1–0 win over Ottawa.

Her consistent form not only earned her the club’s monthly award but also strengthened her reputation as one of Nigeria’s most in-form exports in women’s football.

Okoronkwo, who has been a regular figure in the Super Falcons setup, is expected to play a key role for both club and country ahead of upcoming international fixtures.
