Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has hailed Erling Haaland as the “greatest goalscorer to ever play in English football” after the Manchester City striker continued his incredible scoring run.

Haaland netted for the ninth consecutive match as Manchester City defeated Brentford 1–0 on Sunday, bulldozing through the defence to grab his 18th goal of the season for both club and country.

Speaking on Super Sunday: Extra Time, Carragher said the Norwegian forward’s consistency and dominance have set him apart from every other striker to grace the English game.

“I think we’re watching the greatest goalscorer to ever play in English football,” Carragher declared.
“I honestly can’t remember Jimmy Greaves, Dixie Dean and all those players from years ago.
But I think of Gary Lineker, Alan Shearer, Harry Kane and Ian Rush for my club Liverpool.”

Since arriving at Manchester City, Haaland has shattered multiple Premier League records, including the most goals scored in a single season (36). At just 26, he continues to redefine modern finishing with his power, precision, and relentless hunger for goals.

Carragher’s statement adds to the growing debate about Haaland’s place among football’s all-time elite — a discussion that now transcends generations.
