Akpabio subsequently referred the nominations to the Committee of the Whole for screening and confirmation, scheduled for next week.

The move comes just 24 hours after President Tinubu held a closed-door meeting with the new military leaders at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, signalling an early consolidation of his national security strategy.

The new appointments are expected to bolster coordination across the armed forces as Nigeria continues its fight against insurgency, banditry, and other internal security threats.

Further details are expected as the Senate begins the confirmation process.
