Nigerian activist and outspoken social media critic, Martin Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has unveiled a new civic project under his Ratel Movement, aimed at mobilising young people across the country for nationwide community service.

In a viral video shared on his Facebook page on Wednesday, the controversial figure announced that the initiative will officially kick off on Saturday, November 29, 2025, with a monthly clean-up and community development exercise.

VDM described the campaign as a non-violent but impactful way to “shut down Nigeria,” stressing that the goal is to replace online activism with tangible community action.

“Starting from the 29th of November, 2025, which will be on a Saturday, we the Ratel Movement are taking over Nigeria. We are shutting down this country — not with violence, but with impact,” he declared.

The activities will include cleaning public spaces, clearing drainages, rehabilitating school facilities, and other grassroots volunteer projects designed to address environmental decay and inspire a renewed sense of patriotism among Nigerian youths.

According to VDM, the initiative is intended to transform the Ratel Movement from an online community into a real-world force for social change.

“We are going to start what has never been seen before in Nigeria. From just being on social media claiming to be Ratels, we will present ourselves in real life and make a difference,” he said.
