Tension has gripped residents of Akure, Ondo State, following the mysterious disappearance of Olaloye Olatunde, who checked into a popular hotel during a week-long training programme and has not been seen since.
Olatunde, who travelled from Owo on August 24 to participate in a Child Labour programme organised by Trace Project Akure in partnership with Charakids Foundation, was one of 56 participants lodged at Sunview Hotel in Alagbaka.
According to human rights advocate and broadcaster Omo Edema, the missing man kept in touch with his family from Monday to Wednesday, but calls to his phone stopped going through by Friday, August 29. Concern grew after his wife raised the alarm.
When relatives visited the hotel, they discovered that Olatunde’s clothes, shoes and other personal belongings were still inside his room, even though all other participants had checked out.
Police spokesman Alayande Olushola confirmed the incident, stating that the case has been officially reported and investigations are underway to uncover the circumstances surrounding his disappearance.
The development has sparked anxiety across Akure, with family, colleagues, and hotel guests demanding answers as the search intensifies.
