Police in Ondo State have arrested a trader, Bosede Iluyemi, after she allegedly killed her elder sister, Omowumi Tewogboye, during a heated quarrel over an ₦800 debt for tomatoes and pepper purchased on credit.
Eyewitnesses said the sisters began arguing in Akure, the state capital, when Bosede reportedly grabbed Omowumi’s clothes in anger. Omowumi fell during the altercation, sustaining serious injuries.
She was rushed to a nearby hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.
Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the Ondo State Police Command, DSP Olusola Ayanlade, said Iluyemi has been arrested and is currently in custody.
He added that investigations are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of the case, assuring the public that due process will be followed to ensure justice.
The shocking incident has sparked outrage in the community, with many residents expressing disbelief that a family disagreement over a small debt could escalate into a fatal confrontation.
