Nigerian business mogul and socialite Obinna Iyiegbu, better known as Obi Cubana, has hailed the resilience of Ekuma Jeremiah — the former Lagos traffic hawker who has now graduated as a lawyer.

Jeremiah first rose to national fame in 2022 when a video of him handing out money to inmates in a Nigerian Correctional Service van in Ajah went viral. The clip struck a chord with millions and caught the attention of Cubana, who offered him financial aid and lucrative opportunities.

Instead of taking the offers, Jeremiah made the unconventional choice to pursue his education, enrolling in law at Ebonyi State University. Three years later, he has completed his degree.

Sharing the milestone on Instagram, Obi Cubana praised Jeremiah’s foresight and determination.

“On January 19, 2022, when opportunities were placed before you, you chose education! You made the best choice. Today, you are a 2025 law graduate,” Cubana wrote.

The nightlife king commended Jeremiah for prioritising long-term growth over short-term comfort, saying his story symbolises the transformative power of education.

From hawking goods on the streets of Lagos to becoming a law graduate, Jeremiah’s journey has been described by many as an inspiring testament to grit, vision and resilience.
