Katsina United head coach, Azeez Mohammed, has admitted that wasteful finishing and lapses in concentration cost his side in their 2-0 defeat to Nasarawa United at the Lafia City Stadium.

Nasarawa United’s victory was secured through goals from Anas Yusuf, last season’s top scorer, and Abubakar Abdullahi, who punished Katsina’s defensive errors in a fiercely contested Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) tie.

Speaking after the match, Mohammed said his players lost their composure in the second half, allowing Nasarawa to capitalise. “It was a normal game, but we lost our heads in the second half and failed to convert our chances. They took advantage of theirs, and the better side won,” he admitted.

Despite the setback, Katsina United remain in fourth place on the NPFL table with nine points, leaving them still within touching distance of the early-season leaders.

Mohammed, however, stressed that his side must improve in front of goal if they are to maintain momentum this season. The team will next face Rangers International in what promises to be another high-stakes fixture.
