President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has arrived in Owerri, Imo State, on a one-day working visit that will see him inaugurate major infrastructure projects and attend the launch of a new book authored by Governor Hope Uzodimma.
The presidential aircraft touched down at the Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport at exactly 12:52 p.m. on Tuesday, where the president was received by top government officials, party leaders, and traditional rulers.
Major road and flyover projects on schedule
Tinubu’s itinerary includes the formal inauguration of the reconstructed 60-kilometre dual carriage Owerri–Mbaise–Umuahia Federal Road, one of the state’s most strategic highways. He will also cut the ribbon on the Assumpta Flyover, a key connector for traffic heading towards Port Harcourt and Onitsha.
The president is equally expected to open the 6,000-capacity Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu International Conference Centre, a state-of-the-art facility designed to host large-scale conferences and events in the South-East.
Book presentation: A decade of APC governance
Beyond infrastructure, the president will headline the launch of Uzodimma’s new book, “A Decade of Impactful Progressive Governance in Nigeria.”
The book reflects on Nigeria’s democratic journey and the achievements of the All Progressives Congress (APC) over the last 10 years—covering the late President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration and Tinubu’s current government.
High-profile gathering in Owerri
The visit has drawn APC governors, senior party figures, traditional leaders, business executives, and civil society representatives to Owerri, with security agencies deployed across the city to ensure a smooth ceremony.
Governor Uzodimma described the president’s visit as “a great honour for Imo State” and urged residents to give Tinubu a warm reception as he commissions what he called “transformative legacy projects.”
