Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma, has said he bears full responsibility for the successes and failures of his administration, insisting that credible leadership demands accountability.

Speaking at the Government House Chapel in Owerri during a church service to mark Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary, Uzodinma said he remains grateful for the opportunity to serve and is determined to deliver governance that uplifts citizens’ welfare.

The governor stressed that while Nigeria is richly blessed with natural resources, poor management has hindered their productive use, leaving citizens struggling despite the nation’s vast wealth.

“We have decided that a lot of things must change. The old way of doing things must give way to a new order because citizens cannot continue to suffer in the midst of plenty,” he said.

Uzodinma urged Nigerians to embrace progress and productivity rather than clinging to the past.

“The old order is gone, gradually and incrementally giving way to the new. We must work. We must be busy. An idle mind is the devil’s workshop. A busy mind is a productive mind,” he added.

His remarks come at a time of mounting public expectation for reforms and economic recovery across the country.
