Top Nollywood actresses and filmmakers Funke Akindele and Toyin Abraham have publicly dispelled long-running rumours of a bitter rivalry, after being spotted together at a Lagos movie premiere.
The two stars, often portrayed as competitors for dominance in Nigeria’s film industry, were seen sharing a lively chat and laughing together at the premiere of Wunmi Toriola’s latest project, attended by skit maker Kiekie.
In a now-viral clip, Akindele is seen dancing before pausing to exchange words with Abraham. The friendly interaction drew playful teasing from Kiekie, who later joined Akindele on the dance floor.
Their public display of warmth comes shortly after Abraham penned a heartfelt note to Akindele, admitting that while fan-fuelled tensions once led to heated exchanges, there was never any genuine animosity between them.
Both actresses, who have carved out impressive careers with box office hits and multiple awards, are now seen by many fans as setting a new tone of unity in Nollywood.
