Nigerian Afrobeats superstar Davido has broken his silence after a viral video suggested he was attacked during a night out in Warri, Delta State.
The footage, which spread rapidly on social media, showed the singer leaving a nightclub shortly after performing at a wedding in the city when he appeared to be struck on the head by someone in the crowd. Fans quickly raised fears that the award-winning artist had been assaulted.
But Davido, 32, has now dismissed those concerns. Taking to X (formerly Twitter), he explained that the incident was nothing more than an accident involving his own bodyguard.
“That was my security. Hit me by mistake,” he wrote, clarifying that the situation had been misinterpreted.
The clip, which has been widely shared, shows the chaotic scene as fans tried to get close to the singer. His security team can be seen pushing back the crowd, with one inadvertently making contact with Davido’s head.
The clarification comes as a relief to fans who had expressed outrage and concern online. Davido, one of Africa’s most influential musicians, continues to command huge followings both at home and abroad, with every public appearance drawing frenzied attention.
