Music executive Ubi Franklin has firmly dismissed the viral rumors accusing him of stealing a luxury wristwatch during Davido’s Miami wedding, calling the allegation “completely false and misleading.” He labeled the rumors a painful distraction during an already emotional time as he mourns his sister.

In his post on X (formerly Twitter), Ubi recounted meeting a jeweler named Benny in Miami who tried to sell him a wristwatch. Ubi decided against the purchase after confirming its prior ownership to avoid any potential complications.

During the wedding ceremony, however, Benny’s brother delivered another watch—this one Ubi did purchase and paid for in full. With the hustle of the event, Ubi ended up with both watches in his possession and wore the one he had bought.

As he prepared to board his flight home to make funeral arrangements, Benny reached out regarding the other watch. Ubi assured observers, “I am not a thief. I have never stolen from anyone in my life.” He added that Benny had already debunked the claims earlier that day.

Davido, rallying behind his associate, reposted Ubi’s statement and quipped angrily at rumor‑spreaders: “You owe nobody any explanation… fools.” His comment underscored solidarity in the face of unfounded accusations.

Public reaction remains divided. Some sympathizers called the rumors baseless and hinted at jealousy within the entertainment circle, while skeptics questioned why Ubi retained both watches and didn’t clarify ownership sooner.

Amid a deeply personal moment marked by grief, Ubi Franklin says these falsehoods are the last thing he will address publicly. Still, the episode has cast a spotlight on how swiftly unchecked online rumors can escalate—and on the need for media accountability, especially amid sensitive times.
