Chelsea legend and Sky Sports pundit Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has tipped Manchester City to reclaim the Premier League crown this season, describing Pep Guardiola’s side as the team to beat amid renewed expectations after a challenging campaign. Hasselbaink shared his thoughts during a Sky Sports News appearance on August 21, 2025.

City began their title push with a statement-making 4‑0 victory over Wolves last weekend and are set for another test against Tottenham Hotspur this Saturday. Hasselbaink, however, insists that City’s experience and depth make them favourites. “Manchester City is my favourite for the year to win the title,” he declared. “Everyone is talking about Liverpool… but Manchester City, for me, is the team to beat.”

Last season, City faltered during the winter stretch, ultimately finishing third behind eventual champions Liverpool and runners-up Arsenal. Despite their trophy drought, bookmakers and analysts continue to view them as strong challengers.

Liverpool remain early-season betting favourites at 6/4, followed by Arsenal (5/2) and City at 16/5 — indicating a tight title race.

Yet, pundits like Hasselbaink see City’s experience and squad quality giving them an edge under pressure.

Sky Sports pundit Izzy Christiansen also believes City, along with Arsenal and Chelsea, could complete a rare domestic double — winning both the men’s Premier League and WSL titles. She singled out City’s summer reinforcements, including Tijjani Reijnders and Rayan Cherki, as pivotal to their prospects.

With the season barely underway, Hassan’s prediction adds fuel to an already heated title race. As City look to bounce back, fans and analysts will keep a close eye on whether Guardiola’s side can turn promise into silverware.
