Strong commendations continue to pour in following Governor Hope Uzodimma’s State of the State address delivered on June 24, 2025, at the Imo State House of Assembly. Leading the praises is Hon. Uba James Esile, the Member representing Onuimo State Constituency, who described the governor’s performance as nothing short of transformational.
Speaking at the Okigwe Anglican Diocesan Synod over the weekend, Esile hailed the governor for what he termed “verifiable and people-centered projects” across health, infrastructure, and human capital development. He noted that Uzodimma’s administration has restored the confidence of Ndi Imo in governance, pointing to several completed and ongoing projects that, according to him, will outlive the current administration.
Esile singled out the governor’s achievements in the health sector, particularly the revitalization of primary healthcare centers and the rollout of the Imo State Health Insurance Scheme which now provides free healthcare to many residents. He also applauded the construction of new specialist hospitals across the state’s three senatorial zones, calling it a major step in improving healthcare access.
Highlighting Uzodimma’s response to insecurity, the Onuimo lawmaker credited the governor’s leadership for restoring relative peace and safety to previously troubled communities. He described the state’s security improvement as a result of proactive policies and strategic collaborations with federal security agencies.
Turning to infrastructure, Esile praised signature projects like the dualization of Owerri-Orlu, Owerri-Okigwe, and Owerri-Mbaise-Umuahia roads. He also mentioned the ongoing renovation of the Imo Concord Hotel, the construction of the Maria Assumpta Flyover, and the near-completion of the Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu International Conference Center as visible testaments to Uzodimma’s development drive.
The lawmaker further commended the governor’s commitment to youth empowerment through the Skill-Up Imo project and other job creation programs, noting that thousands of Imo youths have been trained and empowered for self-reliance under the initiative.
Concluding his remarks, Esile described Governor Uzodimma as “a super parliamentarian” with unmatched legislative engagement, urging any future successor to sustain the development tempo already set. “Uzodimma has raised the bar of governance in Imo State. The next governor must be ready to keep the momentum,” Esile affirmed.
