The decomposing body of a missing lawyer identified as Garricks Anyanwu has been reportedly found in a bush in Orodo, Mbaitoli LGA of Imo state.

The Anyawu’s body was said to have been found on Monday by wandering hunters, four days after he was declared missing.

In a statement on Tuesday, Chukwuemeka Mbamala, the deceased’s coursemate at the Enugu State University of Science and Technology, said the late lawyer may have been killed by assassins.

Mbamala urged relevant authorities to intervene and bring the perpetrators to book.

“Garricks Anyanwu was murdered by unknown assassins in his home town in Orodo Mbaitoli LGA of Imo. His decomposing corpse was found in a bush on Monday after he was declared missing for four days,” Mbamala said.

“According to information, his corpse will be interred on Friday. He was my coursemate at the University of Science and Technology, Enugu state in the year 2003.

“We are calling on the authorities concerned to fish out the assassins and bring them to book.”

When contacted, Henry Okoye, the police spokesperson in Imo, said the command was yet to be briefed about the incident.
