A group of Niger Delta ex-agitators, activists/beneficiaries of the amnesty program have called on major Gen Barry Ndiomu to shun the purported plot to suspend award of fresh scholarship to beneficiaries of program.

The scholarship suspension which was discussed alongside other critical issues, during a crucial meeting held on Monday in Warri, Delta state, had the group stating how the issue is not in the interest of the region

One of the group leaders, Hon Mere Williams who is also the immediate past councilor Ughelli south ward 18 (Okwagbe) and an ex-agitator briefly explained how the chairman and boss, Ndiomu will lift the suspension

“He has come to reform the program and I believe he will reverse decision to accommodate those who wrote 2022 jamb” he said

Hon. Mere said that Ndiomu who is the Interim Administrator (IA) of Presidential Amnesty has a simple role of consolidating on the reintegration component of the program, which involves encouraging those who want to further their education as it is the bedrock of nation building,

“I’m aware, many delegates and ex-agitators wrote the previous JAMB and got good scores and they’re waiting for sponsorship from the office before Ndiomu decide to suspend the award scholarship this year“

“Ndiomu did not only disappointed the students but it means he have also failed to fulfill the expectations of the people of the region in general” he said

Hon. Mere also appealed to Ndiomu to use this period of ongoing auditing exercise to verify and know the actual numbers of those who disarmed and the number of arms in the third phase so as to give them their benefits such as leadership training and allowances because it is long overdue.

“We are calling on the National Security Adviser to the President (NSA) and Mr. President to support Ndiomu in order to enable him accomplish his reformation agenda”, Mere said.
